G7 Method

Freeport Press has been designated a G7® Master Printer by IDEAlliance, the non-profit industry organization that identifies best practices for efficient end-to-end digital media workflows. The G7 methodology includes cutting-edge techniques for dramatically improving print quality and consistency, calibrating proof-to-press and press-to-press with remarkable precision.

What’s the bottom line for you? G7 calibration means brilliant consistency, vibrant colors and high print quality each and every time.

High demand for color consistency, regardless of where or how something is printed, is a valid customer expectation. G7® calibration is an improved method for matching color across multiple devices, providing an industry-leading set of best practices for achieving gray balance. According to IDEAlliance, “G7® is a method defined by the Print Properties and Colorimetrics Working Group of IDEAlliance. The application of this method enables printers to reproduce a similar visual appearance across printing types and substrates.” G7® defines the components of an image that define a similar visual appearance to the human eye. Our implementation of G7 assures you that we are held to strict standards for consistent quality, and that all printed pieces will have a similar visual appearance when completed.

Calibration of equipment and proofing systems is the instrumental piece to this system. The ‘G’ stands for the new calibrating Gray values and the ‘7’ is for the seven core colors in the ISO printing spectrum. (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Red, Green and Blue) You can be confident when working on a new marketing campaign that the vibrant colors seen at multiple locations will look visually similar.

Our team runs tighter-than-average process controls because of the specifications that must be followed. Color matching is checked on multiple levels, not just left to the human eye as the deciding factor, taking subjectivity out of the color matching equation.
