up a private folder, user name & password for your
company so that you can move files easily from your
desktop to ours. Please contact
James
Fleming to get all the important details about
sending files over the internet and start sending in
your files via ftp.
When
we set up your personal account, we will send you the
specific information you need including the ftp site
address, your folder and your user name and password.
Instructions for using the
Freeport Press FTP Service:
For Macintosh Users:
We require using
Aladdin's
Stuffit compression tools to compress
your Macintosh files. Our ftp lines are transmitted
through an NT Server and any Mac files must be
compressed. When Mac files are transmitted over an NT
Server they lose their resource forks. Therefore the
files must be compressed so your files can be brought
back into the Mac environment. Compressing the files
will save space on our server and also reduce the
transmission time. The only files that we can receive
without compressing are PDF files. The PDF files will
need to be named with a the proper file extension,
example: page03.pdf.
Recommended Programs for use of
the ftp services are
Interarchy
and
Fetch.
Both of these programs are very easy to use. You are
able to drag files right from your hard drive to the ftp
window to upload to our site. Below are several
screenshots from Fetch to give you the general idea.
For Windows Users:
We require using
Winzip compression tools to compress your Windows files. This
will conserve space on our server and speed up
transmission times. The only files that we can receive
without compressing are PDF files. The PDF files will
need to be named with the
proper file extension,
example: page03.pdf.
Recommended Programs for use of
the ftp services are
Cuteftp
and
ipswitch.
Both of these programs are very easy to use.
You are also able to log in to our ftp site with
Microsoft
Explorer 5and above (PC Only). To do so, type in
your web address as such: ftp://00.000.0.00 (not real
address). Go to file and down to "log in as".
You can then type your user name and password. You will
be able to navigate to your own personal folder and drag
and drop files onto our site.
